The Leelanau County Youth Advisory Council will host its second annual YACapalooza. Free events will include live music, clay bowl-making, a basketball tournament, and lawn games. Prizes will be awarded and concessions will be available.

Battle of the Bands with Bill Sears of Interlochen as Guest Artist/Clinician

 

Three outstanding high school jazz bands, Cheboygan, Harbor Springs, and Traverse City West will spend the day performing and listening to what Sears is saying about them. In the evening, each band will perform with Sears possibly joining them.

An Evening of Music, Dance and Song

 

Sponsored by Northport's After School Program and the 21st Century Community Learning Center Grant. Students of music instructors Bill Cook, Cynthia Franseen, Jan Ostrowski and Steve Gilbreath will play a variety of piano, wind instrument and violin pieces. Other Northport students and community members will join them in presenting voice and dance selections.

The Sound of Music Auditions – Presented by the Northport Theatre Company

 

Auditions are being held in the Music Room at the Northport Public School for The Sound of Music to be presented July 26-29 and August 2-5. The cast includes 9 women, 5 girls, 7 men, 2 boys, and will be directed by Robert Klump with music director, Jan Klump. Call the NCAC office at 231 386-5001 to make an appointment to audition.

Reminder:  Please drive slowly and carefully when entering the school parking lot. The playground is located adjacent to the parking lot and there isn't a fence to stop a rolling ball or a child from suddenly running into the parking lot. Also, please don't park along the curb for the same reason. Don't park in one of the four handicapped spots unless you have a handicapped sticker.
