The CACKLE (Community Arts Center for Kids, Learning & Enlightenment) group will present Kevin Cole at an assembly in the Northport Community Arts Center. Northport school grades 6-12 and music students from Leland schools will attend. The public is invited. Free.

Carolyn Mawby Chorale with Kevin Cole, pianist

 

The Carolyn Mawby Chorale brings a professional level 47 member choir to our stage. Their beautiful sounds will thrill you. Kevin Cole will be their accompanist for an American Songbook program and will also be featured on the program.

The Haunted Light – Presented by the Grant Traverse Lighthouse Museum

 

This is a play based on rumors that there actually are ghosts at the lighthouse. Performed by the Northport Theatre Company, this is an original one-act musical  written especially for the lighthouse by Sue Hanson and composed by Ann Bloomquist, directed by Julia Brabenec. Proceeds will raise funds for the lighthouse.

Interlochen Academy Symphony Orchestra

The Putnam-Cloud House – Omena Museum

Fall Harvest Festival – 9 am to 5 pm

 

The Leelanau State Park (north of Northport) will host a Fall Harvest Festival as a "Go Get Outdoors" to encourage people to enjoy outdoor recreation. Activities include candle making, stories for children, and displays of beekeeping, fruit growing, maple syrup making and other agricultural and old-fashioned crafts. Weather permitting, the park staff will make old-fashioned ice cream to be served with Leelanau fruit topping. The Fox Island Lighthouse Association will sponsor a pancake breakfast from 9 am to noon ($7 for adults). The festival is free, but a motor vehicle permit is required to enter the park. Permit for the day is $6 or $24 for a year. Camping is $10 a night. For information call 386-5422.

Small Town Design Initiative – Images, Feedback & Community Input

 

This is a fourth-year design studio project for 24 MSU students who will be in the Village of Northport for a tour (taking lots of pictures), dinner, and community input session. The students will report on results from the first session, show a summary set of character images reflecting the community's input, and facilitate small group discussions.

Homecoming – Northport Public School

 

The homecoming parade will be organized in the school parking lot and the floats will be judged at 12:00 pm . The Homecoming Parade leaves the school parking lot at 1:00 pm and goes through town to the soccer field where the school king and queen will be crowned. The soccer game begins at 2:00 pm with Harbor Light Christian School. The winner of the float contest will be announced at half time.
