FOR NORTHPORT AREA HERITAGE ASSOCIATION
NORTHPORT, MI – In the third of a series of classes on preserving
precious family pictures and documents, Northport resident Al Noftz
will present How to Edit Videos and Movies on Your Computer as part of
the Northport Area Heritage Association's monthly program series. The
class is scheduled for Thursday, March 27, 2008 at 7 p.m. in the
Northport Public School Computer lab.At the session, participants will first transfer an 8mm movie or VHS
tape into the computer. They'll then have hands on time to edit a
sample movie on the computer system using the free program Movie
Maker.To reserve a seat, please call Noftz at 386-9936. There is no charge
for the program, but donations are appreciated.The school is located at 104 S. Wing Street. To get there turn left
at the second blinking light in Northport and park in the visitor's
lot. Directional signs to the computer lab will be posted on the doors
at the school.The Northport Area Heritage Association is dedicated to preserving the
history of Northport and the surrounding area. For more information

desserts. Plus you will enjoy entertainment by Hugh Willey and several
Northport students. Half of the proceeds will go towards the Northport
Promise. Public welcome.

NORTHPORT HONOR SOCIETY ANNUAL DINNER TO BENEFIT NORTHPORT PROMISE
NORTHPORT, MI – Members of the Northport Public School Honor Society have chosen the Northport Promise as the beneficiary of their annual fundraising dinner, planned Tuesday, March 18 from 5 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the Northport School. Tickets for the event are $8 for adults and $5 for children
“The Honor Society decided to raise funds to help the Northport Promise this year,” said advisor Liz Lint. “Five members of the honor society are among the seniors who will benefit from The Northport Promise this year and the other members will be beneficiaries too as they graduate. The students wanted to be contributors to this terrific program.”
Students are planning a pasta dinner including a choice of Alfredo or marinara sauce, meatballs, salad, garlic bread and homemade desserts. Student members of the Honor Society and members of the Northport Promise steering committee will prepare and serve the dinner. Hugh Willey will perform during the evening as will several Northport students.
“The Promise ensures that money is not an issue when choosing a college or career path. It also shows the support I have of my community,” said Shauna Sitarek, a Northport High School junior and National Honor Society member.
Tickets are available by purchasing them from an National Honor Society member, contact Liz Lint at 386-5153, the Filling Station in Northport, at Tamarack Galley in Omena or at the door.
